Out with the old slab
Concrete Driveways in Homer Glen
Out with the cracked, sunken drive. In with a slab thick enough for your cars and jointed so the lines look planned.
Strength Starts Under the Slab
A driveway takes more abuse than any other slab around the house. Cars, delivery trucks, snowplows, salt, and every freeze and thaw from November through March. When one fails it usually fails from below: soft base, thin concrete, no steel, and joints spaced too far apart. We have been pouring driveways since 2017, and the fix is always the same discipline. First the failing slab gets jackhammered and carted off. Then soft soil comes out and replace it with compacted crushed stone, deeper on wet clay. Steel goes in, the slab is formed thicker than a patio, and the apron is tied cleanly to the street where your village allows. Joints are laid out before the pour, spaced to the width of the drive, and cut at the right depth while the concrete is still young, so cracks travel down straight lines instead of across the middle of the slab. Homer Glen drives are often long and wide with side-load garages, so we plan pour sections and joint lines together. You get a drive that looks crisp and carries weight for years.
What a Driveway Replacement Includes
Each of these shows up as its own line in your written price.
Demolition
Your current drive busted into chunks and carted off the property.
Excavation
Soft and organic soil dug out until firm ground is reached.
Compacted stone base
Crushed stone placed and compacted in lifts to carry vehicle weight.
Reinforcement
Steel set at the right height in the slab, not left lying on the base.
Driveway thickness
Thicker than a walk or patio, heavier still for trucks, trailers or RVs.
Apron to the street
A clean connection at the street edge, built to your village's requirements.
Joint layout
Spacing planned before the pour and cut at proper depth so cracks follow the lines.
Finish and cure
Broom texture for traction, with the slab protected while it gains strength.
Driveway Replacement, Start to Finish
Call and describe the drive
Length, width, what you park on it and what is wrong with the current slab. We talk thickness and finish options on the first call.
Measure, check grade, price
We measure, look at drainage toward the garage and street, sketch the joint plan and write up a price with every piece listed.
Tear out, rebuild, pour
Removal and base work, then forms and steel, then the pour and joints. You stay off it while it cures, and we clean up before we leave.
Why Our Driveways Last
Built from the base up
Most driveway failures start underneath. We spend the time there.
Joints planned, not improvised
Spacing and depth set before the truck arrives, so lines land straight.
Clean site at the end
Old concrete gone, forms out and the lawn edges backfilled.
